Greyhound Biography
Greyhound is an American War Film, released in July of 2020 that focuses on Ernest Krause (Tom Hanks), a U.S Naval Comander, as he leads Allied War and Commerical Marine Vessels across the Atlantic. While the Movies primary focus is on Ernest and his Fletcher-class destroyer, codenamed "Greyhound," he is also supported by a British 'Tribal-class' Destroyer, a Polsih 'Grom-class' Destroyer, and a Canadian 'Flower-class' Corvette, codenamed Harry, Eagle, and Dicky. However, throughout the convoy, Krause is pursued and bombarded by German U-boats and the movies main, hoping to sink the Allied Shipping Vessels in order to cripple the American Supply Line. Despite Krause's lengthy and experience Naval Career, this is his first wartime assignment, eventually leading him to become entangled with what would later be known as the "longest, largest, and most complex Naval Battle," The Battle of the Atlantic. During the Battle of the Atlantic The convoy enters an area called "Black Pit"— the Mid-Atlantic gap where they will be out of range of protective air cover. High-frequency direction finding from the convoy flagship intercepts several German transmissions, indicating the presence of U-boats. Throughout the movie, Krause collaborates with the other Destroyer and Covertte Class Ships to protect the convoy, using skillfull tactics and maneuvers, in an attempt to eliminate the German Threat. There is never a dull moment in the 2020 movie, using suspense and action to envelop the reader in the storyline and the characters.
